About us
Guiding your path to a brighter future.
Pathway to Hope is a nonprofit based in Kitchener, Ontario. We work with young people aged 13 to 25 who are facing mental health and addiction challenges, and with the families around them.
How we started
Pathway to Hope was founded in November 2024 to close gaps in mental health and addiction services for youth in Ontario. It came out of the work of two people. Jessica Qubrossi had spent years as a youth addiction worker and knew exactly where the existing systems fell short; when she tried to change them from inside, bureaucracy usually got in the way. Ishaq Khan turned those observations into a plan for an organization that could adapt instead of stall.
We are based in Kitchener, in the middle of the Waterloo Region, which is where our local work happens. The rest runs online. Our Academy puts courses and resources in front of people across Canada and beyond, so distance is not the thing that decides whether someone gets help.
The care we want to offer is culturally sensitive and inclusive, and it reflects the multicultural, multilingual and interfaith country it sits in.
Our mission
Support that fits the person in front of us.
We work with young people in Ontario who are struggling with addiction and mental health. The care is compassionate and personal, and it is aimed at resilience, recovery and well-being that takes in the whole person. Around that sits a community people can lean on.
Our vision
Every young person, whatever their background.
We want all youth to be able to reach compassionate, holistic addiction and mental health treatment. Our route there is the online Academy, free of charge, plus a supportive and informed community around it.
What we value
Compassion
We approach every individual with empathy, kindness and understanding.
Holistic care
We address the whole person: physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being.
Inclusivity
We serve every individual who needs support, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Empowerment
We give people the tools, skills, confidence and community they need to overcome challenges and thrive.
Resilience
We believe in the strength and potential of every young person to overcome their struggles and build a brighter future.
Three principles we build on
- 01
Multiculturalism
Programs are designed to reflect the cultural identities of the youth and families we serve. Hiring staff from a range of backgrounds and using culturally relevant practices is part of that.
- 02
Multilingualism
Course material and resources are written to be usable by people whose first language is not English or French, so what we teach reaches more of the community.
- 03
Interfaith
A safe space for people of any faith, or none, where support respects what they believe.
The people doing the work
Our team brings its own experience and skill to this. Each of them has a reason for being here, and most will tell you what it is.
